Why Am I Here?

No, this isn’t that classic of all existential questions. This is truly an explanation of why I decided to start this blog.

I’m a long-time Democrat. My Democratic roots are deep and span back generations. I’m active in my local Democratic Party at the local and county levels. I grew up with stories about the Democrats and how they used to fight for the interests of the people against the powerful.

That Democratic Party doesn’t exist anymore.

Instead, what the national Democratic Party (and, in some cases, state parties) are Eisenhower Republicans — and wimpy Eisenhower Republicans at that. These Democrats are free-market zealots who are more interested in protecting the interests of their patrons than their constituents. These Democrats are about to piss away a once-in-a-generation chance to provide health care for Americans that matter because they are beholden to their corporate masters.

And I’ve had just about enough.

That’s why I am here — to do my best to take the party back to its roots. Sometimes I’ll be advocating for causes. Sometimes I’ll be talking strategy. Sometimes I’ll just be talking off the top of my head.

But what I can promise you is that I will not pull punches. The future of the United States as a country we can be proud of is in danger, and we must fight back. And the best way to do it is to return control of our party to the people.

I welcome comments, criticisms and questions — and I’m not scared of debating ideas with conservatives (I don’t want to get into a name-calling battle, however. There’s enough of that garbage on cable TV).

So let’s do this thing — and let’s get out there and take our party back.
